It is reported; Government Forces fired live ammunition on peaceful protestors in Nekemte  city, Oromia Region.

The protestors were out in force to protest the government’s denial to allow the recently released Oromo Federalist Congress (OFC) leaders and other members access to the city. Among the leaders who were denied to enter the city of Nekemte were Professor Merera Gudina and Mr. Bekele Gerba.

The leaders were touring the Oromia region since their release from prison and were discussing the current issues in Ethiopia with the community. Wherever they went, people were giving them a resounding hero’s reception, it was reported.

The people are demanding the withdrawal of the ruling party soldiers to leave the camp they set in the region. They were holed in Nekemte city at a special place called Bake Jamma, when they fired live ammunition on the protesting crowd.
