Hurricane Irma is wreaking havoc in Florida after leaving a trail of destruction on islands in the Caribbean.

Neighbouring Mexico is recovering from the strongest earthquake in 100 years. At least 60 people were killed in the tremor which also jolted El Salvador. That came days after Hurricane Harvey which caused widespread flooding and a chemical plant explosion in Texas.

Recovery and rebuilding often costs billions of dollars.
