Last night in Ambo a skirmish broke out between local police forces of Oromia region, and federal special forces attempting to crash the protest by Ambo University students. Oromia police forces took the lead to keep the peace of their city and volunteered to calm the protesting students. However, the federal special forces were hell-bent on crashing the protest by Ambo university students.

Agazi forces (special forces of the federal government of Ethiopia) unpersuaded by the efforts put forth by Ambo local police forces proceeded with their effort to quash the protest by Ambo Ambo University students. The standoff between Agazi forces and Ambo police forces devolved into a clash. The clash between the two forces escalated into a gun battle. In the ensuing gun battle, a nine-year-old girl suffered a bullet wound and was taken to the local hospital and is receiving medical attention, according to VOA (Voice of America) sources.

The gun battle between Agazi forces and Oromia police forces that lasted a few minutes has claimed the life of one Oromia region police officer. At least three government forces also suffered bullet wounds and may have died from their injuries.

Ambo residents have called for a three-day stay at home to protest the brutal killings of innocent civilians by government special forces all over the country.
