It was a sad Friday April 27 night in Pretoria, South Africa Ethiopian Community so does to all in the Ethiopian Diaspora all over the world. I was glued to live streaming from Abbay Media from 1pm EST until late in the afternoon following the overwhelming grief during the Wake for Gezahgne Gebremeskel who was murdered by assassin bullet few days ago.
The one unmistakable Gift the late Gezahgne left with us is his love for Ethiopians his two kids and his wife Meskerem.
I do believe Mr. Obang can facilitate through Congressman Chris Smith an Asylum for Gezaghne’s family who are the victim of political crime. Their safety in South Africa is in question now.
The father who was an Activist was murdered and we are not sure if South Africa justice system can deliver justice for the family. His young daughter Melat a high school student is well matured beyond her age and conscious of the struggle in Ethiopia for justice.
She called for justice for the youth of Ethiopia who were gunned down by security on recent interview. She is our Malala Yousuf of Pakistan whose life was miraculously saved after she was shot by Taliban. The only difference is that Melat was not the target this time like Malala but her father who is called by his nickname Nebro meaning Tiger !!!!
Obang Metho who travelled throughout the diaspora to secure the safety of refugees has a huge task that demand his immediate attention.
The late Gezaghne daughter, youngest son and their mother need to come to USA because their lives are in danger in South Africa.
We are behind Obang for all the support he needs.
Let Him Rest in Peace !!!
Safety for Nebro’s Family !!!
