The Somali Government allegedly requested the help of neighboring countries following the terrorist act that ensued on 14 October 2017.

The American government is helping the war effort against Al-Shabaab in Somalia with logistics and bombing the enemy positions with drones but much needed foot soldiers are being used from African countries including Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia.

It is to be reminded; the Ethiopian Government was at loggerhead with the United States due to HR-128. Ethiopia threatened America not to implement the bill or else it will not take part in fighting terrorism in the region. Political analysts take the latest effort of sending thousands of Ethiopian soldiers to Somalia by the Ethiopian government is to appease the Americans by fighting their war in Somalia.

Witnesses in the area have reported thousands of Ethiopian soldiers including several tanks and other war machinery being transported to Somalia. The Ethiopian Foreign Minister Mr. Workneh Gebeyehu has also admitted several thousands of Ethiopian soldiers and numerous tanks have been sent to Somalia to bolster the fight with Al-Shabaab.
