  1. Progressives are definitely not liberals in the classical sense, for starters they are identitarians which basically reduces everyone to their group (race, gender, sexuality etc..) and encourages 'group think' which is basically the opposite to the position of individualist that liberalism and capitalism encouraged. I mean progressives aren't even subtle these days about their communist ambitions, equality of outcome being a prime example, ever larger state programs, 1984 is ever closer. 'Newspeak' google it.

  2. Lmao yeah let's not conflate enlightenment era Liberalism with post-modern Liberalism. Hobbs & Locke would have had more in common with Benito Mussolini rather than Bernie Sanders. Locke was a board member for a African Slaving company for God's sake

  3. Finally a youtube video explaining how the beginings of america was a liberal move. It really annoys me whenever I hear somebody who is from a very conservative part of the country (and are conservative themselves) exclaim "___ is the real america."

  4. Individual freedom and a free market are true benefits. Most "first world liberals" now insist that every one think like them. That is most illiberal. Institutions like the EU should. not be sacrosanct. Diversity means you care more about the color palette than you do about the artist or art.

  5. The economist is trying to take market share from CNN, buzzfeed, the young Turks, etc.. It used to be a good source of information and more about the facts than opinion. Bloomberg is the only neutral source of information left.

  6. Remember the differences between the people who believe in social democracy and neo liberlism. Very very very different ideologys. Oh and that sneaky classical liberalism. Do not mix those up. Classical liberals are right wing.

  7. Conceptually-wise, it would be of interest to know how the denial and neglect of authority for about forty years, in scholarship and education, has contributed to the rise of authoritarian.
