Bole Criminal court dismissed the case of former Unity Party executive member Daniel Shibeshi and journalist Elias Gebru, it is reported.
During the 3rd instance court session held last Wednesday, the attorney general set both individuals free while they are still on bail. The argument for their defense was the Anti-Terrorism proclamation and the command post that accused them of the transgression is obsolete and no more applicable.
The former Unity Party executive member Daniel Shibeshi and journalist Elias Gebru were imprisoned accused by the command post of contravening the temporary anti-terrorism proclamation. They were both denied bail and have been unjustly imprisoned by the ruling Ethiopian party, EPRDF, and have suffered in prison.
Reports indicated, the court revisited the case and accepted the argument of the defense and concluded they should not be accountable for a defunct proclamation as well as command post and set both individuals free.
