The supreme Ethiopian prisoner of conscience, Andargachew Tsige, is said to be released within a week according to sources that were present in the closed meeting of PM Abiy Ahmed and members of the Tigray community.

The PM has reportedly told the attendees that he was undoing the mistakes EPRDF committed by releasing Andy, whose imprisonment cost the Ethiopian government in billions of dollars. According to the PM arresting Andy was not right in the first plays as it has caused a diplomatic rift with UK government and loss of British Aid and said Andy will be released along with the business people jailed for corruption.

Mr Andargachew Tsige a seasoned political figure in Ethiopia, whose political career stretches across three consecutive governments. He is a UK citizen, a father of three and  the founder of Ginbot 7 movement for Justice Freedom and Democracy.
