The Easter Command Center of the Ethiopian Military is an active participant in the fight against the rebel group, ONLF. The former chief of the command, Gen. Abraha Woldemariam, is a notoriously corrupt general who has accumulated a lot of wealth by selling contraband items imported through Somalia.
The reason for Gen. Abraha’s replacement is unknown, but Ethiopia’s Military Chief of Staff, Gen. Samora Yenus, is the one who made the decision to replace Gen. Abraha with Gen. Masho.
Gen. Masho previously worked as the military commissar of the military camp in Jijiga. He is also highly involved in the contraband trade. So much so that he and his brother have quickly risen to be one of the richest Ethiopians. It is not mysterious as through what means a military officer with a government salary can become that rich.
