The meeting called by Ethiopian Parliament to discuss the pros and cons of the benefits of Addis Ababa city was disrupted by Oromo People’s Democratic Organization (OPDO).

The Ethiopian People’s Democratic Front (EPRDF), which is presently in dire problems, will not stop from any stones unturned to divert the tsunami which is heading towards it in full force. Calling the parliament to discuss the matter regarding the benefits of Addis Ababa city was one of the card it has amongest many, it is reported.

It is indicated, the former spokesperson, Mr. Aba Dula Gemeda, tried his best to mediate the parliament meeting to continue, but to no avail. Opposing the former spokesperson’s mediation, Mr. Addisu Arega specified, there is no way the discussion will continue on the matter while thousands of our nationals from Oromia region are displaced and homeless.

The discussion regarding the benefits of Addis Ababa city is designed to raise suspicions and hatred between OPDO and Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) and the people they represent – Oromos and Amharas. The two major ethnic groups have started to think alike and cooperate with one another. The united front of the two major ethnic groups has become a nightmare for the ruling party and that has failed to foil the plan of Mr. Lemma Megerssa.

According to some political thinkers, the disruption of the parliament meeting by OPDO has thwarted the trap of EPRDF divide and rule. This, in turn, has indicated the political maturity and manoeuvre of OPDO leaders.
