Prisoners hunger strike in Kilinto Prison

Oromo people’s Congress Senior Opposition figures Bekele Gerba, Dejene Tafa and other prisoners begun to refuse meals for their right to be treated like other prisoners and against the harsh treatment at the hands of prison officials before appearing in a court.

According to families, the prisoners are still insisting on continuing the hunger strike until they get their demands.

Political prisoners in Kilinto prison are singled out for brutish treatment which often includes denial of medical care.  The court refused to even hear their appeal about the vicious handling in prison.
