The relentless Ethiopian human rights activist, Artist Tamagn Beyene, was arrested today during the anti-slavery protest held in Washington DC.

The protest was held world wide including the United Kingdom, Israel and others. The main purpose of the protest is to draw the world’s attention to the plight of African immigrants stranded in Libya and in captivity with Libyan slave traders. It is to ask nations and governments of the world including African states and the West not to watch and do nothing while desperate African immigrants in Libya are being sold as slaves for as low as $400.00 in this 21st century.

Participants in the DC protest included people from Africa, the Caribbean’s, the Middle East, the USA  etc. Abbay Media is following this news closely and will update you soon.

Updates:
Tamagn Beyene has been released at around 4pm DC time. Upon his release Tamagn said he wasn’t arrested as Ethiopian diplomat driving drunk in Turkey, referring to the Ethiopian diplomat in Turkey who was driving drunk crashing cars and was expelled from Turkey. He said he was arrested advocating for the voiceless African immigrants sold as slaves in Libya.

Tamagn urged Ethiopians not to sit and watch but to come out and do something for the rights of their fellow Ethiopians.
