The killings and excessive use of force by the federal government army on the residents of Woldiya, Qobo and Mersa has not stopped but gotten worse, said the residents in those three towns.

The city elders and religious leaders in Mersa were meeting with the city mayor Mr Addisie Legesse to secure the release of jailed youth when government security forces using tear gas abducted the use that was following (watching) the meeting from outside, residents reported. The abducted youth were very inhumanly and brutally beaten and taken to unknown location.

The federal security sources displayed no Ethiopian feeling and acted as foreign forces savagely beating and causing severe bodily injury to peaceful citizens, the residents of Mersa protested.

The religious leaders and city elders told local authorities they will take responsibility for the youth, should the arrested youth be released. However the religious and city elders were told the detainees are under the custody of the federal government and would not be released.

In Woldiya, every business was closed for the day and the security forces were arresting the youth and business community members and taking them to unknown locations.
