The former Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia and former Chairman of Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) Ato Addisu Legesse owns 100 % of Addis View Hotel in the capital city Addis Ababa and 75% of Papyrus Hotel in the city of Bahir Dar, reported ESAT Radio
News of his ownership of the Addis View Hotel came to light when the pseudo owner of the hotel Ato Abiy Aberra was interrogated by Ethiopian law enforcement authorities. Ato Abiy Aberra was arrested for alleged illegal money lending and document fraud on Hamle 13, 2009 (July 20, 2017). Pressed to pay dues and taxes on his properties including the hotel, Ato Abiy Aberra confessed that not him but Addisu Legesse was the sole owner who built and operated the luxurious Addis View Hotel.
Addisu Legesse is also the co-owner of another top class hotel known as Papyrus Hotel in the city of Bahir Dar some 530 Km north of the capital Addis Ababa. Ato Ayalew mengesha, the former chief of the Security Administration of Amhara Region in exile, confirmed that the late Tebikaw Bale who people assumed was the owner of Papyrus had only 25% share. The family of the deceased learned of this tragic fact when they were settling family inheritances in the local court.
Addisu Legesse is currently the head of the Meles Zenawi Academy and has served the current Ethiopian government in different capacities. To name just a few, He was the President of the Amhara Region from 1992 to 2000, Minister Agriculture and rural development until 2008 and Chairman of the Amhara National Democratic Movement until 2010.
